Membership Application and Information

The Midwestern Association of Graduate Schools, a regional affiliate of CGS, is your association for graduate leaders in the Midwest. Our strategic priorities are as follows:

  • Recognize excellence in graduate education in the Midwest
  • Facilitate networking and professional development for graduate deans and their staff in the Midwest
  • Plan and run a successful annual meeting to accomplish and bring visibility to these priorities
  • Run a viable organization to accomplish the above

Benefits of Our Membership

Benefits of a paid Midwestern Association of Graduate Schools membership include reduced rates for all registrants at the Midwestern Association of Graduate Schools annual meeting and eligibility to submit an entry for the Three Minute Thesis competition and nominations for the Distinguished Thesis, Excellence in Teaching, and Excellence & Innovation in Graduate Education awards. Eligibility to Apply for Our Membership

  • Accredited North American institutions currently granting graduate degrees are eligible to apply for membership in the Midwestern Association of Graduate Schools.
  • Membership in the Midwestern Association of Graduate Schools is held at the institutional level. Each member institution shall designate one official representative to cast official votes on behalf of the institution. Member institutions may send as many delegates or participants to meetings as they desire.
  • Associate membership, carrying all privileges except that of voting, may be extended to any institution contemplating the offering of graduate work or any institution offering graduate work but not fully accredited as defined above for such period as determined by the majority vote of the Executive Committee.

Approval Process for Midwestern Association of Graduate Schools Membership

  • Membership applications are reviewed by the Membership Committee, which makes recommendations to the Executive Committee.
  • Final approval is made by the Midwestern Association of Graduate Schools membership at the annual business meeting.
  • Membership is completed by the payment of Midwestern Association of Graduate Schools annual dues.
